Engineering Draftsman

Our business is an HVAC/R  equipment manufacturer and our operations consists of business in Latin America as well as US Domestic Sales. Many of the important daily tasks (phone calls, emails, etc.) will be in Spanish and English. Please consider this before applying.

Job Description
This roll will be part of a team that integrates structure, mechanical, electrical and control design and engineering of HVAC/R equipment. Will be responsible for development and design 2D and 3D drawings for a variety of refrigeration systems and multidisciplinary devices. The Engineering Draftsman develops and design products, systems, sub-systems and components in conjunction with engineering, production, control, projects and sales. Generates 3D models of complete systems indicating framing, components and interconnecting piping. Prepares drawings that indicate part dimensions, quantities of materials to be used, load capacity, etc. Will be responsible for maintaining a pleasant and consistent flow in the daily operations of FriconUSA by providing excellent client service, communicating effectively with fellow employees, vendors and efficiently handling all tasks related to the office. Needs to be a punctual and dependable person. Supports and contributes to the mission, vision and values of the company.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

·   Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial

·   1 year experience with manufacturing

·   Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

·   1-3 Years of Experience with 3D Modeling in SolidWorks

·   Legally able to work in the USA

Qualifications / Characteristics:
Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints. Experience in sheet metal fabrication, assembly, piping routing, pressure vessel among other mechanical parts and components. Ability to quickly understand design concepts/approach as directed and quickly become effective at tasks assigned. Good interpersonal skills to interface with Engineering, strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and strong organizational skills are required. Self starter with strong initiative and able to work with minimum supervision. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, organizational detail, ability to meet deadlines, work as a team member, efficient time management skills. Ability to estimate and manage task budgets and schedules and ability to present design results is a plus.

Required Experience: Mechanical, 3D modeling and related areas: 1-3 years, Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

Design and Development - Develop detailed designs for mechanical equipment using Solid Works. Develops and updates 2D and 3D mechanical production drawings to accurately machine components per design requirements. Interface with machinists and manufacturing supervisors to develop the most efficient method to manufacture products and recommend improvement needed. Develops cost effective tool design concepts appropriate to the configurations being programmed and machined. Produce piping Drawings, resolve design problems, review and analyze specifications, specify dimensions, materials, and procedures, Consult technical handbooks and tables while in drafting phase, Explain concepts to manufacturers and production personnel, Able to perform design work and CAD duties with minimum supervision, blueprint reading/ Understanding of geometry and tolerances, proficient with creating and maintaining component and drawing libraries. Provide information when required for cost estimating, such as blank layouts and processing sketches, complies with industry standards as well as statutory and regulatory requirements (UL, AHRI, ASME VIII, ISO9001 among others standards). Working with Sales, Engineering and customer on the development and introduction of new products and projects in production.

Other Activities: Typing, dictation, filing, data spread sheets, record notes as needed for managers and other staff; Maintains an orderly and organized office workspace.
